Ted is a police officer and friend of Reggie Wayne. Following an intimate encounter between Ted and Kate Macer, it is revealed that he is also working for the Sonora Cartel that is ran by Fausto Alarcón.
Biography[]
Ted is an officer of the Phoenix Police Department and an old friend of Reggie Wayne. At a local bar, Reggie introduces Ted to Kate Macer. Following a brief conversation, Ted invites Kate to dance. After a round of dancing, Kate and Ted become intimate. They continue this moment of passion to Kate's hotel room where they indulge one another on her couch. While in the moment, Ted empties the contents of pants pocket onto the adjacent table. The contents include a set of keys and two familiar elastic bands.
As the passion ensues, Kate notices the elastic bands. She realizes they are the same bands used by the cartel to bundle money from the bank. She then gets off of the couch to regain her composure. Ted realizes his mistake of leaving the bands in the open. He then tries to lure her back, but is unsuccessful. Noticing that Kate is becoming hostile, Ted makes one last effort to console her. This effort fails as Kate shoves him away and runs for her handgun.
Ted chases Kate and overpowers her. He then pins Kate on the floor and begins to strangle her. To his surprise, Ted looks up to see Alejandro Gillick pointing his pistol point blank at Ted's forehead. As a result, Ted releases Kate and is taken into custody by Alejandro and Matt Graver.
Alejandro commences to brutalizing Ted in order to get leads on members of the cartel. Specifically other corrupt police officers who are working for the cartel. Ted divulges the information in exchange for the protection of his daughter and ex-wife.
It can be speculated that Ted was planted at the bar by the cartel to lure Kate and extract information from her following the bank search. Another possibility of his presence would be to kill Kate in order to cover up her findings.
